Recap: 2023 Hangzhou- Belt & Road Countries Business Matching Seminar

Last week, the New Zealand Business Roundtable in China (NZBRiC)'s Executive Director Anna-May Isbey attended the 2023 Hangzhou- Belt & Road Countries Business Matching Seminar hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CPPIT) Hangzhou Commitee, Hangzhou Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese Affairs Committee, Hangzhou Foreign Affairs Office, Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Hangzhou Investment Promotion Bureau, Hangzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Hangzhou. The seminar was an opportunity for attendees to hear about Belt & Road developments in Hangzhou and across the globe while sharing updates on their countries' trade with China.

The seminar was followed by a dinner hosted by the CPPCC Hangzhou Municipal Committee leaders for major guests and provided an opportunity for networking and strengthening trade ties between the foreign guests' organisations and the city of Hangzhou.

The following day, foreign representatives were taken to the Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City, an innovation and venture complex for global technology entrepreneurship, and Alibaba Group's HQ in Hangzhou. It was incredible to see these developments in Hangzhou, huge investment into an innovative environment that supports entrepreneurial networks and builds highly skilled talent in the areas of science, technology and the digital environment.
